DIY Glitter Catch all Dish

I am back at it with crafting. I guess you can say it's my strength to be creative and help others harvest any creativity that is deep inside. Today I will be giving you a quick little tutorial on how to make your own catch all dish. It's crazy how inexpensive and easy it is to make this pretty little dish that you can add to your vanity or bedside table. Let's get started!

Supplies you will need:

2 small bricks of Polymer Clay (I used Craft Smart which I picked up from Michaels)

Polymer Clay tools (shaping tools, polymer clay rolling pin, etc)

Oven safe bowl or dish

Glitter

Cookie tray

Oven mitt/s

**Optional:

Xacto Knife (for shaping)

Paint pen

Extra polymer clay tools that are in the image

Coffee (if you need that extra boost for creativity)

** I listed these other optional supplies since I did not use them. You may want to try them out yourself when you design your own dish. Get creative by using these different tools to add texture, dimension to your dish or added color by using a pain pen to accent your dish.

First read the instructions on the package of your polymer clay that you bought. Polymer clay baking instructions may vary from brand to brand. You don't want to over bake your clay because it will literally be a hot mess. You don't want that. Once you read the instructions, preheat your oven to the time instructed on the polymer clay package. The polymer clay I used needed to be baked at 275 degrees.

Open your two small bricks of clay and warm them in your hands. If you never used this clay before it's hard at first to work with so make sure you can knead it and warm it before you shape it. Warm. Knead. Shape.

Make two little logs of clay and begin to twist them together so you can get a cool pattern. I used two different colors to create a cool pattern or you can use the same color if you are boring and basic. JK

Form it into a ball or follow what I did by creating this anatomically correct shaped heart...

and then SMASH it and roll it flat because life will bring heartache and pain. Make sure you use a polymer clay rolling pin or a rolling pin that is NOT wood. I only say this because the clay will stick to wood and create a wood pattern into your clay. Unless you want that or want to have polymer clay forever stuck to your wooden rolling pin.

SHAPE YOUR CLAY. I emphasize this step because this is where the magic happens. Shape your dish however you want. End of story.

This next step is optional but like I said in the beginning, we are making a glitter catch all dish not a basic catch all dish. Sprinkle that good glittery shit on your fabulous creation and make sure you use that little rolling pin and press the glitter into the clay so it doesn't come off the dish when you bake it.

I added a little scalloped design on my dish because I'm extra.

Take your oven safe container and place your soon to be glitter catch all inside. You need a dish to make a dish. LOL

Place the oven safe container on a cookie tray because I find this easier to remove later on or you can create more than one dish and stick them all on the cookie tray together.

Set the timer on the oven for the instructed amount of time of the polymer clay package. *Please make sure you read the instructions on the package.*

Have a dance party for about 15 minutes or so.

Remove your creation from the oven. Please remove your creation with oven mitts. I want to prevent a trip to the ER.

Wait for your creation to cool down before removing it from the oven safe container.

Have a second dance party.

Remove your dish by shimming it out with one of the polymer clay tools that is thin enough to wedge it out.

TA DAH! A pretty cool catch all dish for whatever you want to put in it.
