Summer Favorites: Beauty, Beer and Thalia Hall

I'm going to keep it short, sweet and to the point. Summer is going by so quickly and we all feel that Target, Joann Fabrics and Michaels are going to be reminding us about soon about the coming of autumn with pumpkins, leaves and happy little ghosts to decorate your home. Do not fear these stores setting us into a tizzy about the upcoming seasons...Guess what, summer is still here and it's not going anywhere baby.


That being said let me share with you my summer favorites because it is summer after all.


Keep your face feeling fresh with this summer heat. This toner is a great addition to your skincare routine. If you are prone to pimples this is a great product to cleanse your pores and keep your face from looking like a nasty greasy pizza. *insert puke sound*


This stuff is a god send. If you are like me and never have time to wash/dry/style your hair in the morning, this stuff helps you do all three. Spray a little at the roots of your hair and work it through till the ends of your hair. This dry shampoo helps dry your extra hair oils and keeps your mane feeling fresh and clean. I use this every other day because I do like washing my hair as well. But if you are in a pinch for time this is a great alternative.



This is the best natural eye make up remover ever. I take a little pea size dollop on a circle cotton pad and gently massage over my makeup covered eyes. Almost all my makeup comes off in one swoop. Excellent product. Also on the jar it says you can massage through hair as a natural conditioner.








This nail polish is seriously the best and for being under $3 for nail polish that lasts a long time its honestly a great beauty find. The color Golden is great for summer since we have all been seeing gold accents on shoes and clothing. Why not add a little gold on your fingers?!







I use this stuff for a more natural "no makeup" makeup look. This look is so on trend now. We all want to look like beauty goddesses without that heavy caked on makeup look. E.L.F. sheer tint brow gel makes your eyebrows look groomed and naturally beautiful. The nice thing about this tint it comes in 3 colors and a clear gel.

This stuff is the bomb. I have used many highlighters before and this is probably, by far, the best I have used. I love the amount of control you have when a highlighter is in stick form. A little goes a long way. Plus this product is a great addition to your summer makeup routine. Gives you that extra summer glow you deserve.











Enough with beauty let's move on to better things like...beer.


So this past week I had the chance to see the band Waxahatchee at Thalia Hall. If you have never been to Thalia Hall or the beautiful Pilsen neighborhood, do yourself a favor and make it a priority this summer.

Before the concert my boyfriend and I stopped at La Vaca for some grub to eat before the concert. We have hung out in Pilsen many times but never stopped at La Vaca. The location of this restaurant/margarita bar is steps away from the beautiful Thalia Hall which makes it a great date night out since you really don't have to think about where to go or eat. It's all right there.

La Vaca is located at 1160 W 18th St, Chicago, IL in the Pilsen neighborhood. They have a great menu plus we scored it big when we saw they have $3 Mexican beers on Wednesdays. Go here for the drinks, that's it. After having a few Victoria's we headed on over to Thalia Hall.


Thalia Hall is a beautiful building built in 1892. I love the interior design. The abundance of exposed brick, distressed wooden floors and a super cool chandelier in the stairwell of Thalia Hall is all the aesthetics you will ever need. I am not going to get into much history or detail about the building but if you are interested in reading more about it go here. This building has a music/entertainment venue, a restaurant and a very chill cool bar in the basement of the building.

Thalia Hall always has the coolest chalkboard signs that introduce the musical artists that perform there before the concert.

This past Wednesday we saw Waxahatchee which was pretty excellent. It has been 2 years since I saw her perform at Pitchfork 2015. Great band definitely check them out. They just released a new album called "Out in the Storm." My favorite song from that album is "Sparks Fly" but the entire album is great. Her sound is without doubt addicting.


Check out Thalia Hall's upcoming events. A lot of the upcoming shows are pretty much all sold out since they are after parties of Lolla. You might be able to snag a ticket.
